Review~ Accidentally in Love by Laura Drewry

Accidentally in Love (Friends First, #3)

Accidentally in Love by Laura Drewry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Accidentally in Love is the book I’ve needed for a while now. There was none of that instant attraction where most of the story centers around the main couple just having sex and not much time actually getting to know each other, which seem to me the theme lately in a lot of the books I’ve been picking up. So it was a nice change to read something different for me, where the characters spend actual time together and don’t just hop into bed together right away. So this was the perfect book for me right now.

Accidentally in Love is book three in the Friends First series by Laura Drewry. I really enjoyed this book and the previous ones, the series keeps getting better! Accidentally in Love is the story of Ella Palmer and Brett Hale, for those who have read the other books both characters have been in the previous stories. Ella doesn’t trust cops and no one could blame her with the bad experience she had in the past. Brett is a cop and has been lucky enough to pull Ella over many times for speeding, but this time he has to revoke her license. Brett and Ella haven’t really spent much time together, but now they have to since Ella has to go to a driver safety class and Brett is the teacher, but this isn’t the other thing that will bring these two together. Ella past is back in the form of her ex-boyfriend and he is stirring up trouble. To stay safe Ella has to put her trust into the police and Brett. The more time Brett and Ella spending together the more they start to fall for each other with which is a conflict of interest since Ella is a case Brett is working.

Ella is a smart ass, her quick wit and nervous rambling kept me laughing, she is definitely a likable character. I’ve always liked Brett from the previous books, but I loved him in this one. He was such a gentleman and all around good guy or as Ella liked to call him Dudley Do-Right. Like the other books each chapter started with a quote from a police movie or show. I love how Laura adds those little touches to each other her books, it’s like a nice surprise at the beginning of every chapter. Accidentally in Love had everything I wanted in a book, humor, mystery and romance. It left me wanting more, so I’m really looking forward to Maya’s book.

Fans of Jill Shalvis and Susan Mallery will love Laura Drewry’s warm and humorous new Friends First romance, a sexy romp about a good cop and a bad girl playing hard to get.

Ellie Palmer and cops don’t mix, and getting pulled over by Officer Brett Hale—again—doesn’t help. Neither does being forced to take a safe-driving course with him. Brett’s by-the-book attitude leaves Ellie ice-cold, and his rock-hard body won’t change that. Still, the more time she spends with the guy, the more she finds herself warming up to his unexpected charms.

Even though Brett comes off like a boy scout, Ellie has sparked something he wants badly enough to get him to rethink his past mistakes. But when her ex shows up, Brett makes it his mission to keep Ellie safe in the here and now. His gut tells him the guy’s trouble, and Ellie must agree, because she doesn’t complain when Brett pulls her close. To keep her safe, though, he’ll have to choose between breaking her heart . . . and breaking the rules.

Review~ Unforgettable by Melody Grace

Unforgettable (Beachwood Bay, #8)

Unforgettable by Melody Grace
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I feel like this is the year of series ending. Multiple favorite series, including the Beachwood Bay series are coming to an end this year, sadly. :( But at least these series and the Beachwood Bay are going out in style!

The last book in the Beachwood Bay series Unforgettable is about Ash Callahan eldest brother to the Callahan clan and Noelle Olsen soon to be a corporate lawyer. After a chance meeting and a night shared with passion and no rules, Ash and Noelle never thought they would see each other again. That was until they bump into each other in Beachwood Bay.

Noelle has given up her corporate law to take over her grandmother’s bed and breakfast. With her family thinking she is crazy, Noelle is determined to bring life back to the old B&B.

Ash has always been cold and standoffish when it comes to women, keeping his focus on his job and family, but after the night he let his walls down with Noelle he can’t seem to get her off his mind. Fighting his feelings for her is getting harder as she is now in the same small beach town as him, hanging with his family, and their businesses are mixing together.

I really liked Noelle, she was strong, independent and nice, plus the girl was always baking so I was pretty much hungry for pastry’s throughout the book. When push came to shove, she stood up for herself and for what she thought was right, even if that meant getting her heart broken. Ash is a different story, he made me mad most of the book. He couldn’t see past his own fears and insecurities to see a good thing even if it was right in front of him.

With Unforgettable being that last book in the series all the characters from the previous books are back and it's great to see how their lives have changed and grown. The epilogue was perfect, I’m so glad Melody gave that to us, the fans of Beachwood Bay.

New from Kendall Ryan

My upcoming book has been tentatively titled The Dominant, and I've begun to question if that's the right title.  The Dominant reads hard core BDSM read? This book is totally not. In fact, the characters have taken a different turn and it has more angst and feels, along with the sexy. There are *very* light BDSM elements. A few toys, and lots of sexy.

At its core, it's a forbidden love story about a man who fell for his best friend's little sister years ago, and now she's back in town, coming off a bad breakup looking for a little fun and a lot of rebound sex. He's had to lock-down his heart, but agrees to help her - on his terms!

With this I have decided it needed a new title to fully describe the book at its best.
Releasing on July 14 is SINFULLY MINE.

SYNOPSIS:
Releasing on July 14

She was forbidden.

I didn’t care.

As my best friend's little sister, Macey Hale was off-limits. Tempting as sin, and forbidden as fuck. I wish I could say that stopped me. I wish I could tell you I’d behaved like a gentleman.

I didn't.

When she waltzes back into my life with that same spark I fell for, looking every bit the beautiful woman I knew she’d grow into, I have to force myself to remember I’m different from the man she once knew. I’m colder. Harder. And for good reason.

With my heart on lockdown, and my hands aching to touch her, I set out to prove that I can keep myself in check this time.

No strings. No attachments.

And definitely no falling for her again.

This is book two in the Lessons with the Dom series, following The Gentleman Mentor. Both are complete standalone novels featuring sexy Dominant men you're sure to fall in love with. Enjoy!

EXCERPT

Up until this moment, sex been a meaningless physical act meant to quiet the need raging inside me, nothing more than joyless weekend hookups with girls whose names I wouldn’t recall in the morning. But Macey wasn’t just the girl I’d grown to love, she was also my best friend’s little sister and a virgin—a combination that was completely off-limits.

Irrevocable by Shay Savage ~ Review

Irrevocable by Shay Savage
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's been a little over a year since I’ve been in the crazy world that is Evan Arden. I was happy with how Otherwise Unharmed had finished and always thought that was the end of Evan and the series. Well Shay surprised me when I found out there was going to be another book and for sure the last one. So I hurried up and read Isolated, which I didn’t realize was even out. I do recommend reading Isolated before reading Irrevocable. It will fill in a few details that are needed between books Otherwise Unharmed and Irrevocable.

After leaving town and the business behind, Evan is back in both the business and in Chicago. After being gone for so long things have changed and so have some of the faces. With someone skimming money from the organization Evan isn’t sure who can be trusted. Besides the stress of all the new faces and a possible traitor, Evan is back to his old habit of not be able to sleep. Another woman in his bed is the only way for him to get some sleep, but being able to find that woman hasn’t been easy. That’s until he finds a hooker name Alina. She different than most women he has met, she doesn’t push Evan for more or for more info about himself. As things in the organization start to come apart, Evan finds comfort and solace in Alina.

I won’t get much more into the story because it’s a pretty crazy ride like most of the other Evan Arden books are. I did find the story a little slow moving at times, but even though I felt it was slow Shay did a great job keeping me going chapter after chapter. I do love how Shay can get inside a man's head, she writes great male POV’s. I am sad to see this series come to an end, but I’m so happy with how it ended even more than I was with otherwise Unharmed. I feel we really get closer for Evan.

Irrevocable Summary
Have you ever made a mistake?
A big one?
I’m back in Chicago and back in business with my boss, Rinaldo Moretti.  So much for my run at a normal life.  There are some new faces in the organization, and someone’s been cooking the books.  Personally?  I think they’re after more than a just little cash.  If I have any hopes of flushing out the traitor, I’m going to need to find a good hooker to help me sleep at night.
As the bodies pile up, I find solace in Alina.  There’s something about her, something different.  She understands me without asking a lot of questions.  It’s as if she’s known me for years, yet we’ve only just met.  If I weren’t so distracted by business, I’d try to figure out her story.  She’s the only one keeping me grounded as my world spins out of control.
I’m going to lose the one man who has ever meant anything to me – the only man to ever call me son.  I want to deny his request, but there is no avoiding what awaits me.  I never wanted any of this, but I’m out of options, and time is running out.
Some choices have unforeseen consequences, and some choices are simply irrevocable.

What the Lightning Sees Part 3 by Louise Bay~ Review

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What the Lightning Sees: Part Three is the final installment in this series. The third installment left me happy, but man did it frustrate me at times. It picks up where part two leaves off and jumps right into the drama that we were left with in part two.

Jake is giving some life changing news, in part two and has to deal with the fallout from it in part three. I thought he handled the news well, but I also thought it was pretty obvious (at least to the reader) he was being played. Things fall apart for Jake and Haven, which made me sad and mad. They already split up in part two, I wanted to see them more as a couple in part three.

Overall, I really enjoyed What the Lightning Sees series. I love Louise Bay’s writing style and will definitely be reading more of her books to come.

Review~ Only Forever by Cristin Harber

Only Forever (Only #4)

Only Forever by Cristin Harber
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Only Forever is the fourth and final installment in the Only series. I’m sad to see this series go because I feel like I’ve been on the journey with these characters from starting with them in high school to being adults and parents.

Only Forever picks up again right where Only for Us left off. The story kicks off with a lot of drama and action, but for as these are short installments the story moves along quickly. I’m very happy with how the series wrapped up, all loose ends are tied up with a very sweet swoon worthy ending. I think my favorite character in the whole series is Emma and Grayson’s little girl Cally, she stole the show with her adorableness. She was so stinken cute! With the Only series being a set of four short installments, I never felt like I wasn’t getting the whole story or that anything was being left unfinished. Very well done Cristin Harber.
